The general liposuction list applies, scaled to a small area: bruising, swelling, persistent numbness, contour irregularities, fluid collection, infection and, with energy devices, burns. The chin and neck add their own, which is why the surgeon's anatomy training matters: injury to the marginal mandibular nerve that moves the lower lip (usually temporary weakness of the smile), injury to the great auricular nerve behind the ear, a hematoma that can be large in this loose tissue, and a hollow or depression under the chin from removing too much fat, which is difficult to correct. Skin that was borderline loose can look looser once the fat under it is gone.
