In their words

Dr. Photis LoizidesIn a liposuction procedure, fat is removed through a small cannula (a thin surgical tube) inserted through small incisions in your skin.
Ottawa Rhinoplasty & Facial Surgery - Dr. James Bonaparte, MD, MSc, FRCSCTechnique: tumescent solution with power-assisted liposuction, through 2 to 3mm incisions
New Age Medical Aesthetics & Plastic SurgeryResults with liposuction are permanent. As long as patients maintain their body weight, the results should not change significantly over time.
Ottawa Plastic SurgeryPower-assisted liposuction uses a vibrating cannula to break up stubborn fat into smaller pieces, making it easier to remove.
AestheteMDOften times, other procedures are performed in conjunction with facelifting to optimize results and appearance. These can include sub-mental liposuction (removing fat from under the chin in the neck) or facial fat augmentation

Dr. Photis LoizidesA mommy makeover combines a breast procedure with a tummy procedure. Usually we perform a breast lift (with possible addition of an implant) and an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). Liposuction of the armpit areas and flanks is also often performed.
Ottawa Rhinoplasty & Facial Surgery - Dr. James Bonaparte, MD, MSc, FRCSCDr. Bonaparte uses a tumescent technique with power-assisted liposuction (PAL) for careful, controlled contouring. The procedure takes 30 to 60 minutes.
New Age Medical Aesthetics & Plastic SurgeryMost cases are a mixture of fatty and glandular gynecomastia, so liposuction and direct excision are often combined.
Ottawa Plastic SurgeryPatients with a stable body weight, positive and realistic outlook for their surgery, generally healthy, and who have firm, elastic skin and good muscle tone are the ideal candidates for liposuction.
AestheteMDIf done alone or along with a skin tightening procedure, submental liposuction is usually done under local anesthesia with or without sedation.
FAQ

Liposuction in Ottawa: common questions

How much does Liposuction cost in Ottawa?

Liposuction generally runs CAD$4,760–CAD$14,960 per treatment area, and each Ottawa clinic sets its own price. The biggest variables are the provider's experience level and the specific device or product used. Newer technology and senior injectors price at the upper end. Pricing is quoted in Canadian dollars (CAD). Request a consultation from any of our listed Ottawa clinics for a personalized quote.

When will I see results from Liposuction?

Initial results in 2–4 weeks, with full results developing over 3 months as collagen builds. Ottawa providers typically schedule follow-ups to track progress.

How often should I get Liposuction?

Maintenance schedules vary. Most Ottawa providers recommend periodic refresh sessions every 6–12 months once optimal results are achieved.

How much does liposuction cost?

Pricing works per treatment area, and most patients treat more than one. A single small area such as the chin or upper arms typically runs $3,500 to $6,000. Larger areas like the abdomen or flanks run $5,000 to $11,000. Treating several areas together costs less per area than doing them separately because anesthesia and facility time are shared. Always confirm whether a quote includes anesthesia, the facility, compression garments, and follow-up visits, because exclusions are where quotes diverge.

Is liposuction a weight-loss procedure?

No, and this is the single most important misunderstanding about it. Surgeons typically remove a limited volume of fat for safety reasons, which is a few pounds rather than a dress size of body weight. Liposuction reshapes contour in people already near their target weight. If your goal is significant weight loss, medical weight management or bariatric surgery is the appropriate path, and liposuction afterward can address what remains.

Will the fat come back?

The fat cells removed are gone permanently and do not regenerate. However, the fat cells remaining elsewhere in your body can still enlarge if you gain weight, which means the shape you gain into may be different from before. Patients who maintain a stable weight keep their result essentially indefinitely.

How is it different from CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting freezes fat cells non-invasively and eliminates roughly 20 to 25 percent of the fat in a treated area per session, with no downtime, over two to three months. Liposuction physically removes a far greater proportion in one operation, with anesthesia, incisions, and real recovery. If your pocket is small and you want to avoid surgery, CoolSculpting is reasonable. If you want a decisive change to contour, liposuction is what actually delivers it.

What about loose skin afterward?

This is the question that determines whether liposuction alone is right for you. Liposuction removes fat but does not tighten skin. In patients with good elasticity the skin retracts well. In patients with significant laxity, particularly after major weight loss or pregnancy, removing the underlying fat can leave the skin looser than before. Those patients often need a skin-removal procedure such as a tummy tuck instead of, or alongside, liposuction. An honest surgeon will tell you this at consultation.
