Dr. Otto Placik | Chicago Plastic SurgeonBy itself, a breast lift will somewhat reduce overall breast volume, so some women will choose to combine breast augmentation and lift (augmentation mastopexy) to achieve increased size and an enhanced breast shape.
The Art of Plastic Surgery: Gregory A. Wiener, MD FACSIn many cases, breast augmentation surgery is combined with a breast lift for the best possible results.
Michael Horn Plastic Surgery & Med SpaA breast lift can be performed as a standalone procedure, a solution to sagging or misshapen breasts or in combination with breast augmentation or breast reduction surgery in line with your cosmetic goals.

Shifrin Plastic SurgeryUsually, a breast lift makes the bra size go down by one cup.
Michael Horn Plastic Surgery & Med Spaa breast lift does not necessarily impact the size of your breasts
Sammy Sinno, MDWhile a breast lift restores youthful perkiness, it may not fully replenish lost upper breast fullness. In this case, a small implant can be artfully placed to optimize breast shape without significantly increasing size. Many women choose to combine their breast lifts with various rejuvenating breast and body contouring procedures, such as tummy tuck and liposuction as part of a comprehensive mommy makeover
Mark Sisco, M.D.Breast lift surgery is appropriate for women who are generally satisfied with the size of their breasts but bothered by sagginess.
Dr. Robert Lukavsky M.D.While a breast lift does not significantly increase or decrease breast size, it dramatically improves breast shape, proportion, and symmetry.A breast lift (mastopexy) is designed for individuals primarily concerned with sagging, breast position, skin elasticity, or shape, rather than a lack of natural volume.
Chicago Institute of Plastic SurgeryNo, a breast lift only reshapes the breast and does not alter cup size.Since the milk ducts and nipples are left intact, breast lift surgery usually will not affect your ability to breast-feed.
Gold Coast Plastic Surgery - George Moynihan, M.D.While a breast lift does not significantly increase or decrease breast size, it dramatically improves breast shape, proportion, and symmetry.A common misconception is that a breast lift is simply an operation to trim away loose skin. While skin removal is necessary, the most critical part of the surgery is actually reshaping, lifting, and securing the internal breast tissue itself.
Lakeview Plastic SurgeryIf you like your size and shape in a bra, but wish your breasts were naturally perkier, then a breast lift may be the right procedure for you!
FAQ

Breast Lift in Chicago: common questions

How much does Breast Lift cost in Chicago?

Breast Lift generally runs $7,000–$14,000 per procedure, and each Chicago clinic sets its own price. The biggest variables are the provider's experience level and the specific device or product used. Newer technology and senior injectors price at the upper end. Pricing is quoted in US dollars (USD). Request a consultation from any of our listed Chicago clinics for a personalized quote.

How long do Breast Lift results last?

Results vary by patient, but most Chicago providers report 6–18 months of sustained benefit from a full Breast Lift series.

Can I wear makeup after Breast Lift?

Most patients wait 24 hours before applying makeup to avoid irritation on freshly-treated skin.

Do I need a lift, implants, or both?

The simplest test is where your nipple sits relative to the fold beneath your breast. If it sits at or below that fold, a lift is what repositions it, and implants alone will not fix that. If your breasts sit high enough but have lost fullness at the top, implants restore that volume. Many patients want both, which is a combined augmentation with mastopexy, a longer operation with a slightly higher revision rate but a single recovery.

What are the scars like?

Scars depend on how much lifting is needed. A minor lift may need only a scar around the areola. Moderate lifting adds a vertical line from the areola to the fold, called a lollipop. Significant lifting adds a horizontal scar along the fold, called an anchor. Scars are permanent, red for several months, and typically fade to pale lines over one to two years. Any surgeon offering a significant lift with no scars is describing something else.

How long does a lift last?

Most patients hold results for ten years or more, but skin continues aging and gravity does not stop. Weight fluctuation and subsequent pregnancy are the two things that most reliably undo a lift, which is why surgeons generally advise finishing childbearing first. Wearing good support and maintaining stable weight extends the result meaningfully.

Will I be able to breastfeed afterward?

Many patients can, though a lift carries somewhat more risk to milk ducts and nipple sensation than augmentation does, because the nipple is repositioned. If future breastfeeding matters to you, say so clearly at consultation, since technique choices can preserve more of the ductal system. And if you plan to have children soon, waiting is generally the better decision anyway.

Is it covered by insurance?

Almost never as a cosmetic lift. Breast reduction, which removes tissue as well as lifting, is sometimes covered when documented neck, back, or shoulder symptoms meet a carrier's criteria. If you have both sagging and significant volume causing physical symptoms, ask the surgeon's office to explore reduction coverage rather than assuming the whole thing is out of pocket.
