About Breast Lift

Surgery that raises and reshapes sagging breasts by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple, without changing size the way implants do.

Sessions

One procedure, results last years but gravity and aging continue

Downtime

1 to 2 weeks off work, 6 weeks before full exercise

Good candidate

People whose breasts have descended after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss, and who are happy with their volume but not their position

  • Raises the breast and repositions the nipple to a natural height
  • Removes stretched skin that a bra only temporarily conceals
  • Can be combined with implants when volume loss is also a concern
  • Improves symmetry between sides

In their words

Southwest Breast & AestheticsWhile a breast lift alone will not significantly change the size of your breasts, the operation can often be combined with an implant or fat transfer breast augmentation in a single procedure.
CraftMD Aesthetics/WellnessThe best candidates for a breast lift in Phoenix are women who are unhappy with the sagging, drooping, or deflated appearance of their breasts and want to restore a more youthful contour.
PHX Plastic Surgery: Dr. Jason JohnsonWhile most women who choose breast lift surgery will have some degree of visible scarring, these scars are seen as an acceptable trade off
Ali M. Mosharrafa, M.D.Breast lift surgery at our clinic is typically performed under local anesthesia with deep sedation
Scottsdale Center for Plastic SurgeryIn some patients who have had significant shrinking of their breast tissue, a breast implant is needed in addition to the breast lift to provide the fullness and roundness desired.

CraftMD Aesthetics/WellnessSome patients may opt to undergo a breast lift with implants , which combines the benefits of a breast lift and breast augmentation to achieve fuller, more youthful breasts.
PHX Plastic Surgery: Dr. Jason JohnsonBy performing a breast lift (mastopexy), Dr. Johnson can remove excess skin and tissue to tighten and lift the bust line.
Ali M. Mosharrafa, M.D.a breast lift on its own does not enhance the size or shape of the breasts, although this procedure can be performed with the help of implants
Jennifer Boll, M.D.The crescent breast lift technique is appropriate for very mild sagging and those who need only a slight lift. A crescent-shaped incision is made just above the areola to slightly pull up the remaining skin and tissue.A circumareolar breast lift is performed to address mild to moderate ptosis. The incision is made around the areola, so scarring is virtually invisible.
William M. Jacobsen, MD, FACSThe Donut Mastopexy slightly elevates the nipple. Dr. Jacobsen performs this procedure for ladies that have very little droop of the breast but need to have the nipple areolar complex elevated just slightly.
Elite Plastic Surgery - Phoenix AZRather than increasing breast size, a breast lift focuses on restoring the natural contour of the breasts by removing excess, stretched skin and repositioning the breast tissue and nipples to a higher location on the chest.Candidates for breast lift surgery should be non-smokers in good health
FAQ

Breast Lift in Phoenix: common questions

How much does Breast Lift cost in Phoenix?

Breast Lift generally runs $7,000–$14,000 per procedure, and each Phoenix clinic sets its own price. The biggest variables are the provider's experience level and the specific device or product used. Newer technology and senior injectors price at the upper end. Pricing is quoted in US dollars (USD). Request a consultation from any of our listed Phoenix clinics for a personalized quote.

How often should I get Breast Lift?

Maintenance schedules vary. Most Phoenix providers recommend periodic refresh sessions every 6–12 months once optimal results are achieved.

Can I wear makeup after Breast Lift?

Most patients wait 24 hours before applying makeup to avoid irritation on freshly-treated skin.

Do I need a lift, implants, or both?

The simplest test is where your nipple sits relative to the fold beneath your breast. If it sits at or below that fold, a lift is what repositions it, and implants alone will not fix that. If your breasts sit high enough but have lost fullness at the top, implants restore that volume. Many patients want both, which is a combined augmentation with mastopexy, a longer operation with a slightly higher revision rate but a single recovery.

What are the scars like?

Scars depend on how much lifting is needed. A minor lift may need only a scar around the areola. Moderate lifting adds a vertical line from the areola to the fold, called a lollipop. Significant lifting adds a horizontal scar along the fold, called an anchor. Scars are permanent, red for several months, and typically fade to pale lines over one to two years. Any surgeon offering a significant lift with no scars is describing something else.

How long does a lift last?

Most patients hold results for ten years or more, but skin continues aging and gravity does not stop. Weight fluctuation and subsequent pregnancy are the two things that most reliably undo a lift, which is why surgeons generally advise finishing childbearing first. Wearing good support and maintaining stable weight extends the result meaningfully.

Will I be able to breastfeed afterward?

Many patients can, though a lift carries somewhat more risk to milk ducts and nipple sensation than augmentation does, because the nipple is repositioned. If future breastfeeding matters to you, say so clearly at consultation, since technique choices can preserve more of the ductal system. And if you plan to have children soon, waiting is generally the better decision anyway.

Is it covered by insurance?

Almost never as a cosmetic lift. Breast reduction, which removes tissue as well as lifting, is sometimes covered when documented neck, back, or shoulder symptoms meet a carrier's criteria. If you have both sagging and significant volume causing physical symptoms, ask the surgeon's office to explore reduction coverage rather than assuming the whole thing is out of pocket.
