A tummy tuck is major surgery that is not for everyone. Good candidates, however, can experience dramatic results and a huge boost in self-esteem.
As a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 20 years of experience, Dr. Mazaheri has helped countless patients achieve natural, beautiful results through the tummy tuck in Scottsdale and Phoenix.
The Fleur-de-Lis tummy tuck is typically recommended for patients who have just undergone a significant bodily change, such as pregnancy or massive weight loss. It involves the removal of excess tissue via an incision made down the belly button and across the pubic bone.
A fleur-de-lis tummy tuck is an advanced procedure that uses two incisions instead of one: the traditional horizontal incision placed low across the abdomen (typically hip to hip), plus a vertical incision running up the midline from the pubic area toward the lower chest.
Why does Dr. Mata use the no-drain tummy tuck for Mommy Makeovers?
A tummy tuck is a very popular part of the Mommy Makeover Procedure . During pregnancy, the uterus expands and can stretch the abdominal wall to the point that exercise will not return it to its original shape.
A mini tummy tuck focuses just on the lower belly below the button. It’s often a great choice if you have a small ‘trouble spot’ or mild skin looseness, and it usually means a shorter incision and faster recovery.
The mini tummy tuck is typically recommended for patients interested in addressing relatively mild skin laxity just below the belly button.
A fleur-de-lis tummy tuck is designed for patients with significant excess skin in both vertical and horizontal directions – concerns that a traditional tummy tuck may not fully address.
Puffy belly skin and extra fat are removed during a tummy tuck, which leads to a smoother, tighter abdominal area. Abdominal muscles stretched and separated during pregnancy or just poor genetics can be re-tightened during this procedure as well.
For individuals with smaller amounts of extra skin or fat in the lower abdomen, a mini tummy tuck, or mini abdominoplasty, may be more suitable.
During a tummy tuck, Dr. Weinrach plans carefully to make sure scars are as minimal and hidden as possible.
Abdominoplasty, also called a tummy tuck in Scottsdale, is indicated when patients have excess skin, fat and/or abdominal wall laxity.
At Defyne Plastic Surgery, we offer both minimally invasive and surgical tummy tuck options, allowing you to choose the approach that best fits your goals, anatomy, and lifestyle.
Depending on your anatomy, skin quality, and aesthetic goals, your treatment plan may involve a scarless tummy tuck like our signature S.M.A.R.T. Tummy Tuck , or a traditional surgical tummy tuck .
Abdominoplasty is a body contouring procedure that removes excess skin, tightens abdominal muscles, and restores firmness.
Tummy tuck surgery in Scottsdale can address selected loose abdominal skin and, when appropriate, fascial laxity.
Dr. Howarth performed a full tummy tuck with removal of selected excess skin and repair of the abdominal wall findings identified in the operative plan.
An abdominoplasty, or “tummy tuck,” is a general term for a plastic surgery procedure that rejuvenates the abdomen and midsection. It is a customizable procedure that addresses loose skin, unwanted fat (in the front of the abdomen and the love handles and flanks), and any muscle/abdominal wall stretching or separation.
Tummy Tuck generally runs $8,000–$16,000 per procedure, and each Scottsdale clinic sets its own price. The biggest variables are the provider's experience level and the specific device or product used. Newer technology and senior injectors price at the upper end. Pricing is quoted in US dollars (USD). Initial results in 2–4 weeks, with full results developing over 3 months as collagen builds. Scottsdale providers typically schedule follow-ups to track progress.
Maintenance schedules vary. Most Scottsdale providers recommend periodic refresh sessions every 6–12 months once optimal results are achieved.
A full tummy tuck addresses the entire abdomen above and below the navel, repairs muscle separation along the full length, and requires repositioning the belly button. A mini tummy tuck only treats the area below the navel, uses a shorter scar, and does not move the belly button, but it also cannot fix laxity or muscle separation above it. Most people who want a mini turn out to need a full one, and a surgeon who tells you that is being honest rather than upselling.
There is a permanent scar running hip to hip, low enough to sit beneath underwear or a swimsuit in most cases, plus a small scar around the navel with a full tummy tuck. It is red and raised for several months, then fades over one to two years to a thin pale line in most patients. People prone to keloid or hypertrophic scarring should raise that at consultation. Anyone promising a scarless tummy tuck is describing a different operation.
You can, but surgeons generally advise against it. A subsequent pregnancy stretches the repaired muscles and skin again, which can undo the result and mean a second operation. It is not dangerous to become pregnant after a tummy tuck, but it is expensive to redo. If you plan more children in the near future, waiting is usually the better financial and surgical decision.
The cosmetic portion is not covered. In specific cases insurance may cover a related procedure called a panniculectomy, which removes a hanging apron of skin when it causes documented rashes, infections, or functional problems, most often after major weight loss. That is not the same operation as a tummy tuck and does not include muscle repair or contouring. Ask your surgeon's office to explore it if you have documented skin problems.
This is one of the more uncomfortable cosmetic operations, particularly when muscle repair is included, and the first week is genuinely difficult. Patients describe intense tightness rather than sharp pain, and most cannot stand fully upright for several days. Pain management has improved considerably with long-acting local anesthetics, and many surgeons now use them specifically to reduce opioid needs. Plan for real help at home for at least the first week.
