Daxxify

The newest neuromodulator, formulated with a peptide instead of animal-derived proteins and approved on trials showing results lasting around six months for many patients, roughly twice the typical Botox interval. Fewer appointments per year at a higher price per treatment.

Also called: daxibotulinumtoxinA, daxxify injections, long lasting botox

Daxxify arrived as the first genuinely new idea in neuromodulators in years: a formulation that lasts longer. Where Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau all settle around three to four months, Daxxify’s approval trials showed a median of about six for frown lines, and its stabilizer is a synthetic peptide rather than the human-derived albumin the other brands use. For people who have been booking a neuromodulator appointment every quarter for a decade, that is a meaningful change.

What it does

The mechanism is the same as every product in the class. Injected into the frown muscles, forehead, or crow’s feet, it blocks the nerve signal, the muscle relaxes, and the lines soften over two weeks. The difference is duration: most patients see four to six months before movement fully returns, versus three to four with other brands. The longer effect comes with a longer commitment; a heavy brow from imperfect placement also lasts longer, which is the main reason to choose an injector who has used Daxxify specifically.

The unit question

Daxxify units are not Botox units. The approved dose for frown lines is forty Daxxify units, treated as comparable to twenty of Botox. Clinics price per unit on the Daxxify scale, so a per-unit number that looks cheaper than Botox is not directly comparable. Ask for the total cost of the treatment and how long the injector expects it to last, then compare per year.

Who it suits

Regular users who want fewer appointments. People whose Botox has been wearing off at eight or ten weeks. Anyone who prefers a product without human or animal-derived components. It is also a reasonable first product, though many injectors like to establish a patient’s response on a shorter-acting brand first so that any placement adjustment does not have to be lived with for half a year.

What it costs

Frown lines typically run $400 to $600 per treatment, forehead and crow’s feet add to that, and a full upper face can approach a thousand dollars. Per visit that is more than Botox; per year it is often similar or less, because two or three visits replace three or four. The result for you decides the math.

Choosing an injector

Ask how long the injector has been using Daxxify and how its duration has held up in their patients. Ask how they handle a first-time patient. Ask for the total treatment price and the plan in Daxxify units. And ask to see results at two weeks and at four months, since the second photo is the one that distinguishes this product.

Frequently asked

Daxxify questions, answered

Does Daxxify really last six months?

In the approval trials for frown lines, the median time until lines returned to baseline was about six months, and a meaningful share of patients lasted longer. Real-world reports vary more; some injectors see five to six months consistently, others find it closer to four for certain patients. It reliably outlasts Botox for most people; how much longer is individual.

How is it dosed compared to Botox?

Daxxify units are its own scale and are not one to one with Botox. The approved frown line dose is forty Daxxify units, which is treated as comparable to twenty units of Botox. Clinics price per Daxxify unit accordingly, so compare total treatment cost, not the per-unit number.

Are there different side effects?

The profile matches other neuromodulators: occasional headache, bruising, and rarely a heavy brow or drooping lid from placement. Because the effect lasts longer, so does any placement issue, which makes injector experience with Daxxify specifically worth asking about.

What does it cost?

A frown line treatment commonly runs $400 to $600, higher than Botox per visit but often comparable or lower per year because there are fewer visits. The math depends on how long it lasts for you, which you only know after the first treatment.
